I have never been one for detail in my art, preferring to go for the bold statement. I love the interaction of strong colours, especially the aquamarines, turquoises and jades that characterise the Hebridean seascapes. My chosen medium is one that allows me to respond emotionally rather than representationally enabling each viewer to see, and feel, something different, all the time evoking the spirit of the islands. No matter how many times I look out over the sea from Harris and Lewis, I always see something new that calls out to be captured in a painting.
